Squeegee vs Spray

Spray vs Squeegee Application

Sealcoating can be applied to any asphalt driveway, parking lot or other paved area. The sealcoat process is when a liquid is applied to the paved area in order to seal the surface, fill small voids and cracks, as well as protect the surface against the elements. Sealcoat can be applied by spray or squeegee.

Spray Application

Spray application is used on surfaces that have been previously sealed. A common misconception with spraying sealant is that it ‘thins’ the material, or uses a low spread rate to apply it to the surface. The spray application actually used 80psi and allows for better control of how much material is being used, and a more precise application process.

Squeegee Application

Squeegee application is more commonly used for newer surfaces or surfaces that require a little more detailed attention. For example, if your driveway or parking lot was paved within the last 2 years or if you have a decent amount of small cracks. The squeegee application allows the sealant to fill any cracks which helps to create a high quality bond with the surface of the pavement.
